Vulcan July 4th Fireworks Show

As Alabama’s most anticipated free summer events, the bewilderingly wild Vulcan Fireworks Show is back for 2019. The Birmingham July Fourth celebration begins at 9:00 PM, with 20 straight minutes of Independence Day fireworks, choreographed to today’s radio hits – just what the doctor ordered. Head to for more information.

Like last year, Vulcan Park and Museum closes at 6:00 PM, so onlookers will not be allowed on the grounds for the firework show. Therefore, it’s recommended you find an alternative location near Vulcan Park to view this year’s fireworks spectacle.

For the best viewing spot, look no further than your parked vehicle! Open up the moonroof. Pop up the cargo area. Put an air mattress in the back of your truck bed. We suggest setting up your SUV or truck at or near one of these popular Birmingham firework-viewing locations:

  • Five Points South – Brother Bryan Park, UAB Campus Green, Glen Iris Park & Ramsay Highschool
  • Homewood – Woodland Park, Homewood Central Park, Overton Park, Samford University, Homewood High School, Soccer Park
  • Vestavia – Byrd Park, Wald Park, Edgewood Lake
  • Mountain Brook – Jemison Park, Mountain Brook Junior High School, Overbrook Road
  • Avondale/Forest Park – Avondale Park, Rushton Park, Rhodes Park, Altamont Park
